International Driver License (IDL) is accepted almost all over the world.  The IDL is intended to overcome the difficulties you might have while driving an automobile in another country that may have different license requirements then your own. On September 19, 1949, the United Nations established the IDL to facilitate the travel of motorists in foreign countries where language barriers create difficulties for both motorists and police. This document (IDL) establishes the right for a person to drive in another country.

 

 

TO APPLY FOR (RENEW OR REPLACE) AN IDL WE NEED THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AND DATA

- copy of your national driver license

- copy of your passport (last page where the picture and data are)

- one passport size photo of you

- we need your address, phone number, color of your eyes, your height and handwritten signature of your name

- the processing fee for an 1 year IDL is $100, and for a 3 years IDL is $130  

Please send the above-mentioned documents and data with a money order made payable to Pataki Center.

The IDL is printed in 8 languages - the six United Nations official languages (English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese) plus German. It's easy to imagine how this might solve problems. If a police officer for some reason stops you, or you need identification, you can present a document that will be in the appropriate language, or at least can be understood. Another advantage of International Driver License:

The International Driving Reference Document is heplful when you drive a motor vehicle in a country where language of your National Driver License is not official language. On September 19, 1949, the United Nations established the International Driving Document to facilitate the travel of motorists in foreign countries where language barriers create difficulties for both motorists and police. This document establishes the right for a person to drive in another country.

Another advantage of International Driving Reference Document: - There is no test needed! - It is printed in 8 languages - the six United Nations official languages (English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese) plus German.

If a police officer for some reason stops you, or you need identification, you can present both documents: your National Driver License and International Driving Reference Document, it saves your time and gives you self confidence.

If you're in an accident, or need to rent a car, it can be invaluable. In fact, in more than 200 countries you can not rent a car at all unless you have an IDD. In Europe, travel officials say "the International Driver License is more necessary in some countries than others, but it's advised for most".

The International Driving Document can be a useful backup form of ID in case your original documents are lost or stolen. Whether you travel on BUSINESS, VACATION or on your HONEYMOON, the International Driving Document is recommended by most countries, and mandated by many for driving.

Categories

A. Motor cycles with or without a sidecar, invalid carriages and threewhelled motor vehicles with an unladen weight no exceeding 400 kg (900 lbs.).

B. Motor vehicles used for the transport of passengers and comprising in addition to the driver's seat, at most 8 seats, or these used for the transport of goods and having a permissible maximum weight not exceeding 3,500 kg (7,700 lbs.). Vehicles in this category may be coupled with a light trailer.

C. Motor vehicles used for the transport of goods and which the permissible maximum weight exceeds 3,500 kg (7,700 lbs.). Vehicles in this category may be coupled with a light trailer.

D. Motor vehicles used for the transport of passengers and comprising in addition to the driver's seat, more than 8 seats. Vehicles in this category may be coupled with a light trailer.

E. Motor Vehicles of categories B, C or D for which the driver is licensed, with other than light trailer.
